LIFE is a DANCE if you take the STEPS. This is my DANCE. The story of my LIFE.

Dancing is moving to the music without stepping on anyone's toes, pretty much the same as life.

My 2nd Trimester Journey

2nd Trimester

Just last month, I posted about my 1st Trimester Journey. I’m down to my last stretch now and I am ready to post my 2nd Trimester Journey.

At 20 weeks I was scheduled for CAS (Congenital Anomaly Scan) to check if the baby is developing normally and to check the gender as well. I am not a fan of 3d/4d and I am more keen to know that my baby is healthy and normal. CAS is a  very detailed scan that takes about 30-40 minutes. All of the baby’s organs are examined and measured too. CAS costs much than the normal 2D Ultrasound.  Good thing my OB only charged me PhP2500 for the CAS with Gender Determination. We checked the gender but she was on a breech position so the Sonologist cannot give me 100% assurance for the gender.

At  24 weeks, I had my blood tests done. It was an exhausting one because I had to undergo 8 hours of fasting and had to endure another 3-4 hours at the Laboratory for the OGGT test. It was also a bad decision to do it in the Laboratory near the house. Didn’t know that it was much expensive compared to Hi-Precision in Powerplant. And the result went out that I have high sugar level.

I was referred to an Endocrinologist for  2nd opinion by my Ob-Gyne. The next week I went to  Makati Medical Center to see my Endocrinologist. I was told that I have Gestational Diabetes and I need to monitor my Glucose 4x a day for 2 weeks.  I am still blessed because the Diabetes Center of Makati Medical Center that time are giving away Accu-Chek Glucose Monitoring Set for FREE. You just need to buy the strips, present it to them and they will give you the Machine for FREE 🙂

First time to check my Glucose and it went fine. 🙂

Only .1 and I’m going to reach 140. 😦

I  was also  asked  to get a TSH test (for Thyroid) by my Endocrinologist.

Thyroid Test

It was painful than I expected

My energy levels are great too during my 2nd Trimester, with a bit of achiness from my lower back and legs. I also had an increase appetite but because I was monitoring my sugar 4x a day, I have to strictly follow my new diet.

It was also the first time I felt her kicks. I am always excited whenever I feel her kicks like a ninja.

At 27 weeks, before we bid goodbye to 2nd Trimester, my Sonologist confirmed that we are having a Baby Girl! 🙂  I was in awe when she said it’s 100% Baby Girl.

2nd trimester girl

What’s the Baby’s Name? The husband and I already decided to name her after Dada (Michael) and my name (Anne) as her second name. But because the name is quiet popular here in the Philippines, we changed the spelling to – Maychele Anne – Gift from God.

A Tale of Surviving my 1st Trimester

1st trimester

Instead of complaining, (like most people do a lot), I always try to put a positive spin on everything.

I’d been wanting to write a blog about my second pregnancy but I didn’t have the time until tonight. 🙂

Pregnancy was never easy for me. Even during my first pregnancy with my eldest (Aidan), I was rushed to the hospital when I was just 32 weeks in (July 7-12, 2009) due to preterm labor; and when i was on my 36th week and 6th day of pregnancy, I was rushed for the second time to the hospital. My OB had to inject something to stop the contractions until I reached 37 weeks. I gave birth via Cesarean delivery, and it’s also one of the major reasons why we had a hard time deciding on having a second baby.

When the husband and I did decide to have a second child, it took us almost a year trying to conceive. At 32, with a regular 8-hour job, managing 2 small businesses on the side, managing my time to make sure I fulfill my duties as a wife and a mother –  were may be few of the reasons why It was hard for us to get pregnant again.

It was Friday morning of January 6, 2017, when I went to church and prayed really hard. God was so good because that same week, he answered my  prayer.

Sunday afternoon, January 8,  I decided to take a Pregnancy Test and it came up POSITIVE! 🙂

We (Aidan, Dada and I) were so happy and excited with the good news! I was so thrilled to be pregnant again, thinking it would be easier compared to the first one.

There’s so much fun during your first trimester – getting a POSITIVE result on your pregnancy test, the FIRST ULTRASOUND, seeing and hearing your BABY’S FIRST HEARTBEAT, and most of all sharing the GOOD NEWS with your loved ones.

Mine was a MIX OF SORTS though.

I had a lot of discomfort, nausea, dizziness, severe headache everyday, indigestion, and most of all SPOTTING. I visited four (4) OB-Gyne’s (for a second-third opinion about the cause of the spotting), had several ultrasound to make sure the baby is safe, and had to take Duphaston twice a day for 2 months.

All four (4) doctors I went to, advised me to go on bed rest  to make sure that baby will be safe to avoid pre-term labor. I had to elevate my legs all the time for the first 2 months. Weird but It worked.

I was getting emotional everyday; especially due to the fact that I couldn’t take care of my son the way I used to. Mommy has to sit or lie in bed all the time, no energy to move around because I am always dizzy due to nausea. It was so hard to balance your own comfort and your family’s needs.

Yet, I am thankful that I am still blessed. I am on bed rest but I am able to Work From the Comforts of our Home (Thank you so much AMS), I have my in laws to support and help us in our daily needs and most of all, I have a loving husband who will drop anything and make us his first priority.

We are now on our 26th week, 1 more week and we’ll say hello to the final stretch of my pregnancy. We are so excited to see our new munchkin in  3 months. 🙂

Wandering Like Kids in Universal Studios Singapore

On our 4th and last Day in Singapore, Hubby and I had a date. Yes, just the 2 of us. Aidan wanted to go to the water park with Tyler instead. Also, we were told that he may not be able to try all the rides in Universal Studios because of the height limit.

So, the husband and I had our spare time together. We only had until 2pm that day because we had to catch our flight back to Manila in the evening.

We left at 7am and took the train to Vivo City and a bus ride to Sentosa.

After an hour we were already in Sentosa. 🙂 It was a swift and fun ride to Resorts World in Sentosa Singapore.

We had a short walk around Resorts World before we went inside the Universal Studios. Universal Studios is located at the 2nd level of the Resorts World.

Almost there. =)

And we’re here. Of course, there should be a mandatory shot at the Universal Globe.

No Selfie Stick but we still managed to have a picture together

Yey! We’re so excited. Can’t wait to get inside..

Strollers and wheelchair rentals are also available for a separate fee. Most rides have a long queue. Want to avoid it? Beat the queues by purchasing the Universal Express Unlimited. Of course, for a much higher rate.

Current Rates below as per –

Ticket Type Adult
(Ages 13 to 59)
(Ages 4 to 12)
(Ages 60 and above)
One-Day Pass S$74 S$56 S$36

I guess Dada was more excited than me. =)

We took some pictures first before we had our first ride.

We started with the ride that’s near the entrance which is the Sesame Street Spaghetti Space Chase.

Our first ride in Universal Studios Singapore

We are ready and excited!

I really wanted to bring Aidan here, but I wanted to make sure that he gets to try almost all of the rides. This ride is for kids and kids at heart. There is still a minimum height requirement though.

The Spaghetti Space Chase is part of the New York Themed Rides.

Another part of the New York shows and rides are the Rockafellas. They were former members of Streetboys. Filipinos are indeed talented.

Another show in New York is Lights! Camera! Action! It’s hosted by Stephen Spielberg but it is not open until 11 am.

If you love Sesame Street, they have more for you.

There’s a Sesame Stage Shows where you get to see your favorite Sesame Street characters perform live on stage.

There’s also a store where you can buy Sesame Street items.

Can’t get enough of Sesame Street? You can meet and greet them in person. You can also take a picture with them. Unfortunately, we had limited time; so we didn’t get a chance to have a photo taken with them.

Our next stop was the Sci-Fi City.

We didn’t miss the chance to try the Transformers The Ride : Ultimate 3D Battle. Here, you get the chance to become a freedom fighter in the ultimate 3D battle ride against the forces of the evil Deceptecons.

This was definitely our favorite ride. If it wasn’t for the long queue, we would have gotten back for another round.

You can also get a chance to see Optimus Prime and Bumblebee in person. Again, I think they normally go out in the afternoon. So, we didn’t had the time to wait for them.

This is the ride that we will NEVER try. haha! The blue track is Battlestar Galactica : Human , while the red track is Battlestar Galactica : Cyclone.

Another Sci-Fi City ride that we didn’t try was the Accelerator. I think this is the only ride for kids.

Next stop is Ancient Egypt.

Revenge of The Mummy – It took us an hour before we were able to enter the dome (if that’s what they call it). This ride almost gave me a heart attack. Now i know why we had to leave all our things inside the locker.

There’s also a Meet and Greet with the characters of the Mummy. I actually saw 2 of them but they were chasing me and the other guests so, I got scared and panicked.

There is a ride in Ancient Egypt that’s for kids but we didn’t see it. Too bad, we haven’t had a chance to try it – Treasure Hunters.

And we now enter The Lost World. We first tried the Canopy Flyer. Kids can ride this as long as they meet the minimum height requirement. But again, I am not gonna let Aidan try this one just yet. It’s a bit scary. Kids can instead enjoy the Dino-Soarin and Amber Rock Climb.

If you want to get wet this early, you can try the Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure. We actually didn’t know that there was this kind of ride. Had we known, we would definitely have tried it. We were not able to check all the rides in part of the map because we were in a hurry and had limited time.

Next is Water World. The Water World live show does not open until 11 am, so we had to try other rides first and come back at 11am to watch the show. It was a really a great show.

With the Cast of Water World

And now we enter, Far Far Away!

We really wanted to try the Enchanted Airways but the line was so long. It would have taken us an hour before we could get in. It’s a Roller Coaster ride, not as big as Battlestar Galactica so I could still tolerate it.

We watched the Shrek 4D Adventure instead. Aidan would definitely enjoy this show. He likes Shrek too. There is also the Magic Potion Spin, but is only open from 11am. It’s a Ferris Wheel for children.

You can also watch Donkey Live and The Dance for the Magic Beans.

Puss in Boots in Giant Journey – Another thrill ride. Aidan would have loved to see this but I think he would be afraid to try it.

Next stop – Madagascar.

We tried the Madagasar Ride – A Crate Adventure. We were expecting to get wet on this ride but we didn’t.  haha!  It was actually boring, but I think Aidan would love it.

Kids can also enjoy the King Julien’s Beach Party-Go-Round and watch the Madagascar Boogie.

It was too early to have lunch but we were really thirsty and a bit hungry, so we grabbed a bite and bought a drink. We had Corndog and Grape Flavored Fanta. It was like a blast from the past. I think the last time I had Fanta was 25 years ago.

Next is Hollywood. Kids and Kids at Heart can watch the shows like Sesame Street – When I Grow Up and dine at Mel’s Dinettes and The Cruisers. You can also get a chance to Meet and Greet the cute Little Yellow fellas – The Minions.

More pictures in the Hollywood.

We really had fun!!! I want to bring Aidan here when he is tall enough to try all the rides. Maybe, next year.  =)

Coco’s LegoLand Malaysia Adventure!

On our 2nd day in Singapore, we went to Malaysia to bring Aidan to Lego Land. It’s our Graduation Gift for him and he was so excited to go.

Johor Malaysia is just an hour ride from Singapore. We left the house early and just ate breakfast when we arrived at Legoland. My sister in law and her husband rented a van to take us to Malaysia and then fetch us in the afternoon back to Singapore.

On our way and we were very excited!!!

And we’re finally in Johor malaysia! =)

We had breakfast in Uptown Coffee first before we went inside Legoland.

And we’re finally here!

You may rent Trolley for the kids – lucky them. =)

Aidan’s first ride was the Lego City Driving School. He was actually above minimum age but he just pretended that he was just 5 years old so that he could join his cousin Tyler.

Once all the children are seated safe in the car, the staff will blow the whistle as a signal that they can start. yes, it’s a race btw. )

He won! =)

Coco’s next stop was the Boating School. It’s hot so Dada accompanied the mini Boat Driver.

My Boys!

Next to our stop was the Rescue Academy. It was so fun that we had to try it again. =) The entire family can join the Rescue Team to compete with other Family. The team / family who can put out the fire first wins the game.

It was a tiring but fun game. It may look easy to do, but believe me, you need  strong arms for this. =)

We had few more rides before we had lunch.

I bet Aidan will never forget his Beetle Bounce Ride. He got mixed emotions – Happy and Nervous!

Next, we went to the Observation Tower. It’s an air-conditioned deck  that moves vertically in a slow circular motion. From up there, you can see the entire Legoland.

View of the entire Legoland.

Aidan was a BIG FAN of Star Wars and he was very happy when he saw LEGO Star Wars. It was just opened recently, and inside were different Star Wars Figures made of Legos – of course. There were models of Different Star Wars episodes. Aidan really enjoyed them because they’re actually moving. =)

Next stop is at the Big Castle, with the Mini Roller Coaster. Dragon’s Apprentice was a small Roller Coaster but I was still afraid of it. They say it’s a children’s ride but it felt more thrilling than I expected. Good thing Aidan didn’t try it.

The best part was when we tried the Aquazone Wave Racers. It was so fun Aidan had to do it again. he didn’t mind even if he was already soaking wet.

Another Hit Ride for Aidan is the Royal Joust. It’s a classic medieval contest in the saddle of a Lego Horse.

Aidan’s Adventure

One More Mommy!

He really enjoyed it big time! It was a long and tiring day, but we really enjoyed LegoLand. Halos lahat ng rides na try namin. We will definitely go back next time!

Before we left Legoland, we went to the Lego Store to buy Legos for the kids. Syempre, mawawala ba yun. hehehe

It took almost an hour for Aidan to finally decide what to buy. Litong lito ang bata. hehehe He ended up with… of course, his first ever Minecraft World Lego.

At 5 pm, the van arrived to take us back to Singapore.  =)

First Out of the Country Trip with the Family – Singapore.

It was Aidan’s first time to travel outside the Philippines and he was very excited.

May 11, 2016, we left the house at 4pm for our 8pm flight to Singapore. The flight was delayed for 30 minutes but it was fine.

Do not panic. Aidan is seating in the next row next to his mamu. 🙂 (see seat numbers hehe)

Look how excited Coco  (kuya in chinese ) was. ☺

Dancing in Happiness

It was a 3 and a half hour flight. A bit exhausting because I can’t put myself to sleep during the whole flight and it was freezing cold.

When you ride the plane, you must read the Emergency Guidelines.

Continue reading… even if your Mom is trying to annoy you. 🙂

At 12 midnight, we finally arrived Changi Airport.

Yehey! Thank you Dear God!  We all arrived safe and sound in Singapore. 🙂

My sister in law was already there waiting for us. We went home straight so we can have a good rest before we officially start our vacation the next day.

More posts about our first Singapore trip in my next posts. ☺☺☺

Coco’s 6th Birthday

You may wonder why I call Aidan “Coco”? It’s Tyler’s (Aidan’s Cousin) new term of endearment for him. Coco means kuya in Chinese. Now, he prefers to be called Coco rather than Kuya.

Yes! It’s Aidan’s Birthday again! Our Little Munchkin is now 6! =)

We’re back to EK again as per Aidan’s request. I guess he will never get tired of Enchanted Kingdom. I feel lucky that I got a good deal when I bought El Cielito and EK’s Promo – PhP5290 (Overnight stay at an Executive Room for 4 persons with buffet breakfast, and Shuttle service from Hotel to EK and Vice Versa.

Just like last year, we went there with Mamu and Wowo. =)

Here we go!

And we’ve arrived!!!

The Receptionist at the Hotel already gave us our tickets so we headed straight to the Birthday Celebrants Booth for Aidan’s FREE ticket. The Birthday Celebrant can have 1 FREE ticket to EK 7 days before and after his/her birthday. One must provide a Photocopy of the Birth Certificate and  1 Valid Government ID (optional for kids).

Birthday Boy Waiting for his EK Ticket

The Birthday Boy patiently waiting for his ticket. 🙂

Birthday Celebrants will have to wear a badge so EK Staff would know who to greet. =)

The Badge for the Celebrant

The Badge for the Birthday Celebrant.

One thing that Aidan loves about EK aside from the rides were the Mascots and Performers. So, he must pose for a picture with them. =)

with the new EK Mascotts

with the EK Mascotts 2

With the EK Mascots

He had to run fast to get to them hehehe

with the EK Performers

With the EK Performers. Aidan was the first person from the crowd who approached them for a picture taking. He’s such a fan of these performers. 🙂

goofing around with Mamu and Wowo

Riding the Ferris Wheel with Mamu and Wowo

View from the Ferris Wheel

Nice view of the Swan Lake from the Ferris Wheel.

Shot courtesy from Mama. I so love this photo. 🙂

Stone Age Train

Rock Ages. Train made of Rock.

Riding the plane all by himself for the first time

Happy Celebrant. It’s his first time to ride this plane all by himself. Can you imagine how nervous I was the whole time he was up there?

All aboard!

Fire!!! He asked Mamu to take a picture of him riding the canon. So cute! =)

Carousel at night

                                                                     The Carousel at Night =)

Play Area

Play Area for Little Kids. He almost had it for himself only. =)

The pictures will be a golden proof that he was indeed happy on his 6th birthday. =) How time flies. It was 6 years ago when I first held him in my arms – so tiny and fragile. Now, he’s a big, bubbly and sweet boy. =)

Mommy and Dada loves you so much!!!

Crepeman Cafe

Craving for Sweet and Savory Crepes? Why not try Crepeman Cafe? This is one of the cafe we went to when were in Maginhawa Quezon City.

Crepeman Cafe is located in 168 Maginhawa Street Corner Mapagkumbaba Street Sikatuna Village, Quezon City.

It’s just a small cafe with 4 tables. They maximized the space so it’s kinda crowded.

They have a wide variety of sweet and savory crepes. We ordered the Mango Nabana. It has Mango, Banana, Nutella Chocolate Spread, Whipped Cream and Kisses. You may add 2 scoops of Magnola Ice cream for only P30. You may chose from Chocolate, Vanilla or Strawberry Flavor.

PhP100.00 + Php30 Ice Cream

They served it on a steel cone holder and it looks really nice and presentable.

They also serve Hot and Cold Drinks, Flavored Iced Tea, Smoothies, Milkshakes, Milk Teas and Coolers.

This cafe is something that you would want to visit over and over again. Too bad that Maginhawa Street is far from our place as we live in Makati, but I read from another blog that they have a much bigger branch in Kapitolyo in Pasig.

Gerry’s Jeepney

Looking for a new place to dine where it’s not crowded and won’t cost you a lot? Then, Maginhawa Street in Quezon City is the right place to go. The entire street is lined up with various cafes and restaurants. From desserts, Filipino Food, Chinese, Mexican, Italian, etc.

I searched a lot of Food Bloggers before we went there so we would know what restaurants to go to. 🙂

Gerry’s Jeppney is one on our list. 🙂

You can find Gerry’s Jeepney at 154 Maginhawa Street Sikatuna Village Quezon City.

The restaurant serves different kinds of Filipino Dishes. I’m not kidding but one of the reason why I went there first is because of the KBL. Being an Ilongga, I really thought that KBL stands for (Kadyos, Baboy, Langka). But I was wrong. 😦 It stands for Kamatis, Bagoong, Luya. 🙂 I didn’t bother to try that one because I’m not so sure If I’ll like it. But I ready in a a blog that it’s something that you need to try out.  One thing that I also notice when I entered were their interiors. The entire place was designed with different signages that you see inside a jeep. They also have sungka that you can play with while waiting for your order. It was placed outside so we didnt bother to take a picture of it. We were so hungry to do that hehehe.

The menu cover

One thing that seperates this from other restaurants is that they have Boodle Fight in the menu.

For someone who doesnt know what Boodle Fight is:
– It’s a military style of eating. Banana leaves are spread on top of the table. That’s where you put your food instead of using a plate. No spoon and fork needed as you will eat using your bare hands. (In Gerry’s Jeepney, you may opt to use spoon and fork if you want.) There’s a sink where you can wash your hands before and after eating.

I really wanted to try the boodle fight but since it's just the 3 of us, I don't think we can finish everything. Each Boodle Fight will cost you Php1000 plus.

We ordered the 2 Porkchop and 1 Liempo Meal that comes with a glass of iced tea for each meal.

Lechon Kawali Php150

Liempo PhP110

I don’t know If I was just hungry that time but I actually loved the food. Nothing really extravagant with the taste, but for me, it’s still sulit. 🙂

If you ask me If I’ll eat there again… Yes! I will definitely eat there again. 🙂

Aidan’s 4th Birthday Party @ School

Apologies for not being active for the last 2 months. I’ve been very busy with a lot of things. I tried to find time for me to post blog entries but I had a hard time balancing my time for work and family. Good thing it’s Thanksgiving in Canada today so I’ll be having a long weekend. =) Hurray for us who are working for Canadians. hehehe

I really want to keep track of the families important events, so even if its 2 months late, I still want to post my son’s 4th birthday celebration. It’s my son’s first time to go to school and I was really excited for his first birthday party at school. We first planned to have the party after his birthday. It’s gonna be Friday and it’s their fun day. Meaning, they won’t be having their regular classes. The entire day will be just for fun. =) But August 9 was declared as a Special Non working day. So, Hubby and I decided to just spend it on the exact date of his birthday. Which is better I guess. His teacher gave us 1hour for the party. It was just a simple party. We brought food and Loot boxes for the kids and his teachers.

We really thought that we would need to cancel Aidan’s birthday party because he got chicken pox the week before his birthday. But God is really good. =)

Invitations were sent out that Monday and it was posted on their diary. Of course we want to make sure that the parents will have enough time to buy their gifts. =)

I made sure that it will be a memorable party for Aidan without spending a lot. So, as usual, everything was DIY. =)

Check this — DIYs for the complete information about my DIYs. =)

The kids loved their loot boxes!

A job well done for me and hubby. With the help of Aidan’s yaya of course for the icing on the cupcakes. =)

Happy Birthday our Little Munchkin! Dada and Momi loves you!
