LIFE is a DANCE if you take the STEPS. This is my DANCE. The story of my LIFE.

Dancing is moving to the music without stepping on anyone's toes, pretty much the same as life.

What is Flouride?

on November 6, 2014

What is Flouride?
– It is a naturally ocuuring element that strengthens teeth. This can help prevent tooth decay.

What it is used for
– Fluoride strengthens teeth by helping to speed remineralization. This strengthens the enamel. Fluoride also helps to stop bacteria from making acids.Fluoride treatments help to prevent decay in both children and adults. Anyone who is at risk of dental decay is a good candidate for topical fluoride treatments. This fluoride is applied directly to the teeth.

-Before you have an in-office fluoride treatment, your teeth should be clean. Your dentist may need to polish away stains. If you use fluoride rinses or gels at home, first brush your teeth thoroughly and floss them. It’s a good idea to use fluoride products at night before bedtime. When you are sleeping, they are less likely to be washed or rinsed away.

How It’s Done
– The fluoride treatments you receive in a dental clinic have more fluoride than over-the-counter fluoride mouthwash or toothpaste. They are used for both children and adults. Dental-clinic treatments also are different chemically and stay on the teeth longer.

Fluoride is applied as a gel, foam or varnish during a dental appointment. The teeth are dried so the fluoride doesn’t become diluted. Fluoride gel or foam can be applied by using a tray that looks like a mouth guard for one to four minutes.
Fluoride varnish can be painted directly on parts of the teeth that are most likely to get a cavity, to strengthen them. This is an advantage of varnish over gel or foam. Varnish also contains a very strong concentration of fluoride. Topical fluoride comes in a variety of flavors, but it should never be swallowed.

What to do after the application
-Don’t eat or drink for at least 30 minutes after a professional fluoride treatment. This helps to increase the fluoride’s contact with the teeth.

How much
– We paid PhP500.00.

After the procedure, the dentist talked to us and advised us that we need to take care of Aidan’s baby teeth as they will save space for his future permanent teeth.

We dont have plans of spending big chunk of our money for braces. So it’s better to spend now to take care of Aidan’s baby tooth than be sorry in the future. 🙂

Tried and Tested Tips for Moms to help your child’s Milk Teeth strong:

– Stop bottle feeding at the age of 2. Yes, this is really tried and tested. Give them 2-3 glasses of milk a day instead. I know a lot of toddlers who are still bottle fed and at the age of 3 they have cavities. It’s a hard preocess to wean your babies. But it will benefit them in the future.

– Its fine to give fruit juices and chocolate drinks to your toddlers. But make sure that you give need water after. Also, limit the intake of fruit juices and chocolate drinks as they contain high sugar.

– At the agen of 6 you may start giving milk from a beaker instead of bottle with nipple. This will help them get used to not drinking milk from a bottle.

– Always prepare a balanced and healthy diet. Toddlers are picky. But never give in to what they want. Give them vegetables every meal.

– Never add sugar to their milk.

– Make it a habit to brush your kids teeth every after meal.

– Teach your child how to floss their teeth. Brushing is not enough. And flossing is not for adults only. 🙂

Well, hope these helps. 🙂
