LIFE is a DANCE if you take the STEPS. This is my DANCE. The story of my LIFE.

Dancing is moving to the music without stepping on anyone's toes, pretty much the same as life.

Aidan’s First Hospitalization

on January 9, 2012
There are times when it’s hard to decide. And most of the time, I end up making the wrong decision. =(

On the night of December 28, Aidan started to throw up; maybe 6-8 times. I was sure that he vomited  more than what he ate that day. On the morning of December 29, I woke up early and gave Aidan Koko Crunch for his breakfast. He wasnt able to finish his meal  because he vomited again and his poop was watery. At around 11am we brought him to the ER and had laboratory tests done; which all came back normal. The resident doctor asked me If we wanted to admit him or take him home. Aidan was going to be a bible bearer on Mike’s Counsin’s wedding the next day and it was going be his first time. Thinking that he will be ok, we opted to take him home and just buy medicines.

Come December 30, we went to the wedding. After the procession, Aidan had a watery poop again. I checked on him and he seemed irritated and dehydrated. We the rushed him back to the ER and decided to have him admitted to prevent dehydration.

For the first time, my son was hooked to an IV rehydrating fluid. It breaks my heart seeing him cry while the nurse was injecting it to his tiny hand. 😦
After spending overnight at the hospital, my son appeared better. But since he still vomited after every meal and still had watery poop, the Doctor did not allow us to go home. He also had a blood test that night which turned out normal.
December 31 was Tyler’s baptismal. We were not able to attend because we were still at the hospital. Another family event missed because of what happened.
We spent another night at the hospital; which was difficult as the toddler already felt restless and wanted to remove the strange looking thing attached to his right hand. I had to be by his side all the time to make sure he wouldn’t pull out the insertion.
It was so sad that we celebrated New Years Eve at the hospital. It was our first time. And hopefully will be the last. I had mixed emotions. Sad, because that’s not how I wished my son to spend his third New Years Eve; But happy at the same time because he stopped throwing up. He still had diarrhea though; but with long intervals between poops. And of course we were complete as a FAMILY. Me, Dada and Aidan.
The nurses were so kind to let us use the wheelchair. We were at the unoccupied Suite Room watching the fireworks until he fell asleep.

January 1, he did not vomit the whole day and his poop started to become mushy. It was a good sign. Finally, his pediatrician gave the go signal to send him home.
When we came home, there were no more episodes of vomiting. He still had LBM the next day but turned ok after a few days.
3 Steps to do during Diarrhea and frequent vomiting:
1. Give 3-4oz glucolyte plus solution after every LBM. After every vomit, give the same solution after 10mins.

2. Erceflora Vial, 2 times a day for 5 days

3. Zinc Syrup / drops for infants , once a day

This first time event that happened in my life as a mother taught me a lot of lessons. At least now I know what to do when faced with this kind of circumstance.
